Software Spotlight - Total Recall Call/Extended Recorder

Total Recall was our replacement for the hugely popular, but poorly named Spy Call application. Spy Call was literally the original Call/Extended Recorder software for the Series 60 platform. For some reason, even in the earliest S60 devices, recording time (when on and off of a call) was limited to 60 seconds. Killer Mobile changed all of this with the advent of Spy Call, which allowed the user to record to their heart’s content, and up to the availble memory - which with AMR recording format meant literally hours and hours of recording - even back in 2004.

About a year ago, some of our resellers, such as Handango decided that they didn’t like the word “Spy” and delisted Spy Call (even though they were still marketing “Spy Call” even going as far as to purchase pay per click promoting it - hypocrites!). About the same time, the original developer working on Spy Call and Killer Mobile parted ways - so we decided to rebuild the application from scratch and rename it Total Recall. Total Recall started out for 2nd edition devices, and became the most user friendly application of it’s kind. It was also the first Call Recording application for S60 to perform without the beep, which catapulted the program into popularity. When S60 3rd came around, we had our work cut out for us. There was a binary compatability break - and the beep was back! We’ve since been able to remove the beep from most of the devices, through a series of updates, however in some devices, the beep remains - so the program is in a current state of constant development.
